You might assume that a French home with its own swimming pool means pushing the budget well beyond €250,000. Not necessarily.
We found homes across France where a private or shared pool comes as part of the package for less than that – sometimes much less. There are stone country houses, village homes, longères and even properties with guest accommodation, large gardens and heated saltwater pools.
Of course, a pool comes with responsibilities as well as summer appeal. Before buying, it is worth checking its condition, safety measures, maintenance costs and whether any work has been properly authorised. Our guide to renovating property in France explains the planning rules that can apply when installing or restoring a swimming pool.
If this will be a second home, also take a look at our guide to managing your property in France, which covers the practicalities of looking after things such as the pool and garden while you are away.
Here are 10 French homes with swimming pools currently on the market for under €250,000.
