Located in beloved Spanish locations such as the Costa del Sol and the Costa Blanca, discover our selection of off-plan properties for sale. Plus, we go through the pros of buying an off-plan home. 

In the Your Overseas Home 2023 survey, we asked readers if they would consider buying an off-plan home. 17.39% of our readers said that they would while 33.30% answered “maybe”. An off-plan home is a home that is yet to be built, you pay for a contract and for the property to be built in stages. So, while this has the drawback of you not being able to hop on a plane and see the home in-person, nor can you move in a hurry, there are definite pluses to buying off-plan. Often, these homes are built in prime locations, close to all amenities.

Four reasons to buy an off-plan home:

  1. Being the first person to live there. As the very first person to live in the property, you get to be the first to make memories there and turn it into a home. Plus, there’s no risk of old, odd forgotten belongings lurking in the attic or the cupboard underneath the stairs.
  2. High quality, modern materials. Even if you’ve had a resale property surveyed, there’s always a risk that you’ll move in and discover bits and bobs that need fixing. A leaky tap, a bad paint job, a grumbly oven. When you buy a new build, you can expect the very best quality design and materials. Often, many new builds are built with eco-friendly materials and using energy efficient materials too.
  3. Personal touch. Dependent on what stage of being built your property is in when you make your purchase, you can have some input into the design. Some of the properties listed below have the option to add bedrooms. But it could also be adding air-conditioning or a swimming pool.
  4. Investment potential. Often, new build properties increase in value and make very successful holiday homes, for those looking to make a profit from renting.

Although you cannot see a real image of off plan properties, computer generated images can help! Plus, you could ask to see homes that have been previously built by the developers. Some developers will even have show homes for you to look at. So, here are some examples of off-plan properties for you to have a browse through.

One-bedroom, Pulpí, Almería, €132,500
