If you think Portugal’s golden visa has been cancelled, think again!
Portugal’s residence by investment scheme, the so-called golden visa, is a relatively easy way for non-EU citizens to spend as long as they want in Europe (the Schengen Area). Because while the visa is based in Portugal, you only have to spend around one week in the country. The rest of the time you can travel freely within the 28 other Schengen countries of Europe.
“But wasn’t the golden visa cancelled last year?” No, only investment in your own home has been removed from the visa’s investment options. There is still a selection of reasonably priced investment options, including commercial property and hotels, investment fund units, shares, capital transfers and even donating to research or the arts. Investments can be as little as €250,000, and you can also reduce the amount by investing in particular areas of Portugal.
At a 30-minute webinar on Tuesday 19 November at 4.30pm UK time, (11.30am EST) we will be speaking to Shayne Peacock – a partner in the Residency and Citizenship by Investment (RCBI) division at Holborn Assets to explain your options.
