The name Candelaria comes from the great religiosity of the Virgin Our Lady of the Candles, who has always been patron saint in this church. Topographically, the parish of Candelaria is made up of hills that are sometimes interrupted by valleys and a large number of gullies. Most of these grotas are cultivated either with yams or with orchards.
