In this locality, the Pinhal da Paz deserves special reference, which, at the beginning of the 20th century, was just a rough, arid and semi-abandoned property. However, its owner proceeded to its use and valorization, transforming that arid area into a stunning noget, unique in the Azores, having been planted thousands of cryptomerias, pines and azaleas along a maze of streets and small flowery boulevards. Under Regional Decree No. 12/82/A, the Pinhal da Paz area was defined as "Reserva de Recreio".
