It's early October and since the heat hasn't yet given way to fog I decided to walk in the gardens under the house. The city offers me many opportunities but with the little time my job leaves me I really wonder what I need them for. Today I took my detox moment, as I call it, to have an hour without technology.

I bought myself a magazine which I will read when I reach the furthest and most isolated bench and after hearing the leaves crunch as I pass. I browse without too much conviction until I come to a splendid image. An islet of land that stretches between the mainland and the sea. Here are two small ports where ships have landed for who knows how many centuries.

I discover that it is Syracuse whose oldest nucleus is located on the island of Ortigia. It's decided I'm leaving! I go home, book a ticket and tomorrow at 6 I will have a flight that will take me away from my commitments to...I haven't decided what to do yet but I know what I don't want to do anymore.

I don't want any more meetings, phone calls, going into the office when it's dark and leaving when it's dark again. On the flight I looked at some real estate offers and found the right solution for me. Fontane Bianche, a short distance from the sea, a house on two levels already structured as I want with a beautiful piece of garden.

On the first floor a beautiful three-bedroom apartment with a terrace, and on the ground floor a solution that allows maximum flexibility, or a nice three-room or two units with their own independent entrance. The conditions are good, the current owners have already done a lot of work, floors, doors, systems are already in place, there is even air conditioning! A few small tweaks and everything is ready.

During the summer season I will occupy a small part of the house and the rest will become a B&B. Here the demand is very high and I am sure that the revenues will be interesting. While out of season I will have all the spaces at my disposal including the large garage. In the beautiful garden there is a beautiful swimming pool, while a corner will be used for aroma therapy and the cultivation of medicinal plants.

The gazebo will be the meeting point for those who want to enjoy breakfasts and grilled meat, fish or vegetables or convivial moments while the roof terrace will be my private place to enjoy the view of the sea. I didn't believe that to have the life I've always dreamed of, it was enough to have the courage to say... change. And you, what are you waiting for?
