Barga is a hilltop Medieval town, 410 metres above sea level, in Lucca, Tuscany. The town is included on the Borghi più belli d'Italia, the Association of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy. So, while you can definitely expect beauty – its nestled below the Apuan Alps, the streets are narrow and endearingly old-fashioned, it has charming historic buildings -- Barga offers has a quaint personality all of its own. The town also commemorates the Italian poet Giovanni Pascoli, who resided there. The Teatro dei Differenti, translating to the theatre of the different/deviant, holds many literary and cultural events.  

In Barga, the warm season lasts from about June to September. The hottest month is July with an average daily maximum of 24°C. In October, the temperature falls, and the highest temperatures seen are 16 degrees. The coldest month of all is January with an average daily maximum of 9°C.  

While Barga does not have its own international airport, both Pisa and Florence international airports are within easy reach. Pisa International Airport is an hour away by car, or closer to three by train or bus. While Florence International Airport is an hour and twenty by car. Reach Lucca in 45 minutes; Pisa in an hour and twenty; and Rome in three hours and forty.
